Redness Relief: Avoid The Triggers

Patients with Rosacea often complain of easy flushing and a reddy appearance. Avoiding the triggers that sets off your Rocacea can help this.

As sun exposure is a major factor that affects Rosacea, protecting yourself with hats and daily sunscreen, and staying away from foods that make you flush such as red wine, hot drinks (e.g. coffee, tea), spicy foods and caffeine is the first step in managing rosacea. Some triggers like changes in temperatures or embarrassing situations are more difficult to avoid.

Choose the right skin care regimen for you and avoid strong astringents, toners, and cosmetics requiring solvents to be removed. Products with strong perfume scents might also cause your skin to flare.

Green-tinted sunscreens and make-up is a safe and easy way to camouflage your skin's redness. Cortisone creams can also decrease redness, but are detrimental in the long run and should be avoided.
